Most people will say that Africa is a third world continent and will stay as such for the foreseeable future. Well they would be wrong, in a recent article in The Economist various countries in Africa will soon be outperforming the BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India and China) as the fastest growing economies in the world. Who would have guessed? 

According to the article in the last ten years, 6 of the worlds 10 fastest growing economies were in sub-Saharan Africa.  Read the full article here. This seems to be the countries that have set their sights on building an economy with entrepreneurial focused sectors together with good governance policies. Once a government has specific policies in place to assist the establishment of sustainable small businesses, employment goes up, crime comes down and education stabilizes.

A note on the SA education results: It is not good lowering the standard of the pass rate for school just to get votes in the next election, all this does is ridicules the man in the street. Who wants a Matric who passed with 50% in 3 subjects and only 40% in the other 3? That means that they do not know 55% of the prescribed work. A pass, but does not do much for their future.
