This week Yola
was a victim of a Denial of Service or DoS attack on their servers. This
resulted in their entire service and all their client’s website coming offline,
including our site. This, I can imagine brought frustration, anger, denial and
then acceptance cycle of emotions for Vinny Lingham and his team. The normal
response to these from leader of industry is to first deny that anything is
wrong and then to cross blame anyone and everyone for the problem. This can go
on for ages until all reputation and customer loyalty has disappeared. Just
look at what Cell C and Planet Fitness are doing with their campaigns.
On the flip side Yola was able to use their
social media platform to communicate truth to all their users on their Facebook
Page and Twitter giving us information that was useful and not masked with
smoke and mirrors. I was able to get clear instructions on what to do and who
to do it with. Once I got the new IP redirect, I got hold of my hosting company
and they were able to sort me out in just a few hours even at 7 pm.
Leaders are like tea bags, we only show our
true character once we are placed in hot water, and both Yola and Do
The Hosting came out with shining 5 stars this week. Well done to both of
you, thanks for being true leaders and examples of authentic business owners.
Now back to Cell C?
