Exploit Yourself, a new social media-based reality
show, will be hitting online screens on 01 June 2011. As the title suggests, 10
chosen entrepreneurs will push themselves – and their businesses – to the limit
in a battle for the Grand Prize and title of Top Entrepreneur.
The concept was co-created by Cape Town communications
company, Media Rendezvous, and Entrepreneur Incubator and Academy who, in
association with other businesses, put the show together.
The series will run for 16 weeks during which 10
contestants will take part in a string of developmental workshops and seminars and
will be required to complete tasks to help grow their businesses. Each contestant
will be judged on their business’s percentage of growth and graded according to
their online popularity.
“The series will showcase real entrepreneurs in real
situations and aims to highlight what it takes to run a small business in our
developing country,” says Bruce Wade, show creator and owner of Entrepreneur
Incubator and Academy. “We hope that it will have a positive influence on this
often ignored part of the economic sector.”
The show will be run through a dedicated blog website where
each contestant’s progress will be posted with additional coverage on social media
platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. Readers will also be asked to comment
and interact during the show and a final audience vote at the end of the 16
weeks will determine the winner of the Entrepreneur Choice Award.
Various spot prizes and business development rewards will
be up for grabs weekly and the show will conclude with a gala dinner in
September where winners in the different categories will be announced.
