This week on Exploit Yourself the workshop was
designed to shake a few cages and rattle some foundations. To my surprise it
was found that very few of our contestants had any foundations to rattle. I am
constantly amazed at how many small businesses operate without any solid plans
for the future and without and founding statement or written vision. This
“Accidental Entrepreneurship” state of being is fine while you are still small,
but if your business is destined to grow into something sustainable, you will
need to get focused.
Every company will need the following if it is
going to develop and survive into the future:
- Vision Statement
- Mission Statement
- Value Statement
- A method of measuring progress
- A business plan detailing specifics and plans for
development.
If you own or run a business that has not yet
written these out and have then readily available for reflection and guidance,
then please get going on these today.
Our Contestants are all busy writing theirs out
this week and we will share with you their feelings and feedback on their
progress through their weekly posts.
On offer from us this week: If you need more help
writing out your business vision, mission and values, send me an email directly
and I will email you a worksheet we use for our entrepreneur clients that will
guide you through this process. We normally charge for this service, but I see
such a need for this that we will give it away if you promise to do the work.
Email me here for the sake of the future
of your business.
