This has been a Google of a week and I am still learning so much each day. We have been using Google Trends for some time now to define our keywords and marketing events but this all seems so old and so last year. Here are some nifty tools and tips for those of you who want to get some fancy statistics for your presentation or business plan.

Google Think Insights offers a number of great tools that are easy and fun to use. Facts & Stats gives you those actual statistics like did you know th...

Is Google the emerging Conqueror or Corrupter?

Posted by Bruce Wade on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, In : Techno Tuesday

This week we got to attend some of the Google launch in Cape Town through Mobile Mondays at the One and Only hotel. Not only were we suitable fed and watered but Google as expected put on an awesome show and tell.

We were introduced to some old fav apps that have undergone some revamping such a Chrome, Apps, Location and Games (I am now addicted to Angry Birds). But the best of all was the new look Google Plus and Google Pages.

One can clearly see how they have looked seriously at the mark...

Can you lose your Wack and still Work?

Posted by Bruce Wade on Thursday, November 3, 2011, In : Techno Tuesday

Remember back in the ‘olden days’ when you had to specify the http:// before every website URL. We even had people printing it this way on their business cards and posters. Then the technology caught up and it became an assumed part of any web address. Well now we are getting even lazier and dropping the www. or the Whack Whack Whack as it is called.

This allows you to just use the mybusiness.com part of your URL. BUT only if you have created the required 301 redirect with your web host...

Social Media Mags - WTF

Posted by Bruce Wade on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, In : Techno Tuesday

Social media is the new conversation platform and is paperless , virtual and accessible at every street corner. But so many of us know so very little about it. Sure we use it to try tell our invisible friends what we are doing, hoping that they will listen and click us a like or follow. But not many people I know have any idea of how to use it to your advantage.

Launched today is a new set of four Social Media magazines. Kind of backwards making magazines for social media, but these are not ...

Key Words are Critical

Posted by Bruce Wade on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, In : Techno Tuesday

I asked a client the other day for their keywords and she came back with this list: car, front door, padlock, locker, bedroom ….

Not the key words I was looking for. The key words that you define for your business need to cover 2 different aspects:

1. The words that describe the features of your business. These are words that you will use in every day speak to describe what and how you do what you do.

2. The words that describe the benefits of your business. These are words your customer...

Well no problem. Google Fight has the solution for you. Click here to go to this complete waste of time but fun website, enter in your competing keywords and click Make a Fight. My mom won’t Skype me

Posted by Bruce Wade on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, In : Techno Tuesday

If you are like me and suffer from techno challenged parents who seem to be unable to grasp simple concepts like IM on FB or simple site builder issues on an iframe gui interface, then help is at hand.

Google, bless them for their creative work, have come up with a solution for techno-idiots (still love you mum).

Check out teachparentstech.org and see how easy it is to teach someone about techno stuff. Simple enter their names, select what you want them to learn and email a set of cool easy...

Techno Tues – The Birth of Evly

Posted by Bruce Wade on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, In : Techno Tuesday

We have moved from Data to Information. From Information to Wisdom. From Wisdom to …. What is the next stage in the evolution chain on learning? Information is a given now days, if we do not know something it is our own fault. If we do not know how to apply that information we need to ask for the counsel of wisdom. This is where Evly comes in to the picture. Build. Gather. Solve. Anything. A platform that allows people to create portals of collective wisdom that can be lowered into the web ...

Techno Tues: Lower the barrier to entry for your customers

Posted by Bruce Wade on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, In : Techno Tuesday

A lot of new systems I come across seem to be so complicated to use at first. What I need is some sort of easy to understand video or demo to get me through the first few steps of what I need to do. Then at a later stage a few more hints and tips on how to access the features and functions that will get me on to the next level.

Some businesses run regular Webinars and workshops but not only are these way outside my normal time zone but also long and drawn out. The best way to deliver good co...

Techno Tuesday – Are you recognized online?

Posted by Bruce Wade on Monday, October 11, 2010, In : Techno Tuesday

One of the most frustrating things about Social Media is the amount of different platforms, passwords and logins you need just to be able to move around and still be recognized as you. I want to share a few ideas on how to make this a bit simpler for you and allow you to enjoy your time online involved in conversations.

Firstly, allow your browser (Google Chrome is best for this) to save your passwords and login details for you, this will allow you to just click open your platform and it wil...
