Stop for a minute and ask yourself if you
and your time management system are out of control. Here are a few questions to
assess your current situation;
- Did you spend 10 minutes first thing this
morning planning your day and diary?
- Do you have control over your time in your
day that may be dictated by things that other people deem urgent?
- Do you have no more than 10 emails (read or
unread) in your inbox?
- Do you no outstanding messages on your
phones?
- Do you have scheduled time planned for yourse...

Can our planet survive 7 billion?
This
week the world’s population is set to reach 7 billion! It seems like just yesterday
when we celebrated the 6 billion mark the
birth of Adnan
Mević, the first son of Fatima Helać and Jasminko Mević, in Bosnia. It took only 50 years
for the world’s population to double and only 12 years to grow from 6 to 7
billion.
It has become the regions
less able to support themselves that have always produced the highest
population growth rate. Then the reverse happens in the modern develop... Continue reading ...
Plans to survive Christmas 2011
As a small business owner it has become all
important to begin planning as early as possible to survive the pending holiday
season. Already we have seen shops and centers redecorating in green trees,
holly and sparkly stars. They have also started playing carols at airports and
the waterfront.
How do we plan to cope with this commercial
invasion into our lives and still hope to continue to do business and bring in
an income during the next few months? Here are some tips;

Buy your own business success
Having your own business coach is great,
you get to lean on someone else’s experience and wisdom, but as all things
good, we come at a price. Now I am not saying us coaches are not worth paying
for, but often people just do not have the funds or the time to spend on
coaching. We often get people dropping by this website looking for tools and
tips that they can use right off the bat to help them get through a specific
issue or hump in the road.
We have heard your cry and done something abo... Continue reading ...

Techno Tuesday
Social media is the new conversation
platform and is paperless , virtual and accessible at every street corner. But
so many of us know so very little about it. Sure we use it to try tell our
invisible friends what we are doing, hoping that they will listen and click us
a like or follow. But not many people I know have any idea of how to use it to
your advantage.
Launched today is a new set of four Social
Media magazines. Kind of backwards making magazines for social media, but these
are not ... Continue reading ...
INVENT 2011- the meeting of the minds
Innovation is what has and always will
drive the ground swell of a countries economy. It has shown that those who can
think and live ahead of the curve have always emerged as the winners in life.
Just look at IBM, Apple and Sony. The minds behind these businesses, kept deep
in buildings with lead windows and concrete walls, are often ignored and never recognized.
But this is all about to change. If you are
or have someone locked in your basement who is an inventor of note, then it is
time to... Continue reading ...

We attended the launch road show of the SEDA Stars competition this morning.
This is just one of many business plan competitions that run each year but it
does have the advantage of being very well run and supported. The team responsible

huge amount of attention from this one.
If you have an idea for a business or
currently run a business and are a SA citizen and over the age of 18, then get

Leadership
A while ago I hired a Writing Mentor to
help me with the process of getting my book together and hopefully published
one day. I met with him over a few weeks and proudly presented him with a copy
of my work in progress. This had included almost 6 months of work and many
hours of thought and slog at the keyboard.
He returned my work during our scheduled
meeting and I awaited his praise. The manuscript had almost doubled in weight
due to his addition of ink scribbles and corrections. This I c... Continue reading ...
Motivating Your Will

Leadership
The old saying of “Where there is a will
there is a way’ rings too true in small business. We are often faced with obstacles
that seem impossible to overcome but through a determined will and dedicated persistence
we have the ability to persevere.
The opposite is often used “Where there is
a way there is a will”. This is often used by our clients, who ask to be shown
a way to do things and then they will conjure up the enthusiasm to get the job
done. This is unfortunately never true... Continue reading ...

Remember the PAIA?
A few years ago the business community was abuzz
with the new Promotion to Access Information Act (PAIA). All businesses small
and large had to comply with this act and submit a manual to some government
department in Pretoria to remain legal and compliant.
Carrie-Anne from Cents and Accountability has
reminded us again of this and if you own or run a small business in South
Africa and have not yet written up and submitted your PAIA manual, please get
it done. It is a once off process and sh... Continue reading ...

The Death of NGO Sympathy
We have been hearing a lot about how the
world of non-profits are coming to an end. The days of setting up an easy way
to make money for self through other people’s tragedy and sad stories is not
being bought by corporate and public alike. We have become immune to pictures
of famous people holding hungry kids asking for donations. Most of these funds
never get to serve any purpose to alleviate the pain of why they were raised.
The money seems to line the pockets of those who make a living o... Continue reading ...
