EI Clients
One of our EI members Steve Horwood from 7 Sea Geosciences has been hard at work doing what others thought was impossible and just not feasible. This is just the thing we love about Steve, normal is just not acceptable to him or his way of doing business. We first wrote about this project here in Jan when they were still in construction. This month they launched and tested their new jack-up-barge, a platform contraption that puts a new swing on all things geoscientific. Here is an extract fro... Continue reading ...
4 Key Words: Convenience
In this series, we are looking at the key
words that define a successful sustainable business. The third word is Convenience. This is defined as: Anything that saves or simplifies work
or adds to one's ease or comfort.
It is a given that if you offer a product
or service that reduces someone’s pain or frustration, it will be a hit. But
yet so many people have businesses running that have customers fuming and
having to tolerate poor service, crappy products and zero customer attention. Just... Continue reading ...
Never Give up on Your Dream
Almost a year ago I was asked to assist two
ladies with their project plan. They attended one of our Business Plan
workshops and we got going on the process of converting their dreams into
actual plans and budgets. All things were going well until the project hit a
brick wall: Political red tape. There just seemed no way forward so it was
decided to shelve the plans and wait.
Yesterday I got a call from one of them, “We
have land, we can go ahead with the project”. The wait had paid off ... Continue reading ...
4 Key Words: Collaboration
In this series, we are looking at the key
words that define a successful sustainable business. The second word is Collaboration.
This is defined as: To work with one with another in a
cooperative manner. We have been created to work with each other, never alone.
We each have unique strengths and abilities that when united with others create
compounded exponential results.
Too many small business owners think that
they need to do all the work themselves. This results in long hours of
frustra... Continue reading ...
4 Key Words: Innovation
In this series, we are looking at the key
words that define a successful sustainable business. The first word is
Innovation. This is defined as: Something new or different product
or method introduced. Innovation does not always require you to be a techno-boff
and discover a new formula or algorithm. It could be you doing an everyday
thing in a new way.
But how do we identify where to be
innovative? Simple: Look at the pain and anger in the world, then create a
solution for the people who l... Continue reading ...

Exploit Yourself, a new social media-based reality

in a battle for the Grand Prize and title of Top Entrepreneur.

company, Media Rendezvous, and Entrepreneur Incubator and Academy who, in
association with other businesses, put the show together.

4 Keywords for a successful business
I am often asked to define success in a
business. This is always an open ended question and will always point to the
person doing the asking as looking for affirmation of what they are doing at
the time. There are a number of issues
that will make a business successful and when it does take off, it will
sometimes take you by surprise and have very little to do with your current
effort and investment. So what, if we reduced success to principles, can we conclude
will make a business grow and ... Continue reading ...
My South Africa by Jonathan Jansen
This is doing the rounds on various blogs and emails and it got me thinking about our country and those we share it with. We are so often swamped with bad news and negativity, so this comes as a refreshing shower. Thanks Jonathan My South Africa
is the working-class man who called from the airport to return my wallet
without a cent missing. It is the white woman who put all three of her domestic
worker's children through the same school that her own child attended. It is
the politician in one ... Continue reading ...
Do Not Call Me Again, Ever
One of the off spins of the CPA (Consumer
Protection Act) is the implementation and control of a Do Not Call Me database.
This database lists all the people, phone numbers and email addresses who have
opted out of direct marketing services.
Having your details on this list will mean
that you should never receive calls from those pesky insurance, security and
cell phone call centers again. Sound like the best thing since ice-cream? It
does come with a warning: You may just miss out on that o... Continue reading ...
Living the dream or dreaming the life?
We often speak about living the dream and
wanting to relax on the beach at Bali and sipping cocktails while the water laps at
our toes. But living the dream needs to be preceded by dreaming the life. Life
is not like the movies when we find a suitcase of money or win the lotto and
live happily ever after. It is about planning, working, collaborating and
getting the job done. It involves at the very basic level a dream to follow.
We are required to dream of our future; it
is our imagination t... Continue reading ...

Marketing
Customer centric marketing strategies are
all about understanding your customer. To do this we are assisting our clients
to better understand who they want to sell to by creating those all important
profiles.
To help us we have made use of our newest
happy faces to join our team: Our Marketing Balls.
Each has a cute face, a name and a profile
based on a typical customer. Once we understand who we are selling to it
becomes a whole lot easier to define the features, benefits and prices ar... Continue reading ...
NCA – Just an April Fool Joke
On Friday we waited for the implementation
of the ground breaking New Companies Act. This was first signed into law by
President Mbeki in 2008 and we have seen little movement since then on the
subject. We were notified that implementation date was 01 April and that all
systems in the DTI were set and ready. Many people have spent a huge amount of
money getting ready, running and attending workshops and training. There has
been a frantic sell off of all shelf companies on the market in order ... Continue reading ...
A stand against Shell drilling in our Karoo

Leadership
This design is doing the rounds on shirts and posters. We have the right to stand up against big corporations wanting to drill into our country and extract our oil for their own gain. Very little has been shown that will actually benefit the land owners and citizens of the Karoo from this project, except 15 years of drilling and raping the environment. I have stopped buying fuel from Shell. I think if we collectively stood together we will see the power of the people. Egypt did it, why can't... Continue reading ...
