Integrity is not one of our values!

Posted by Bruce Wade on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, In : Leadership

When it comes to business and personal values, it is often Integrity that is selected by most people on their list of top 5. But if we look at what integrity is all about we find that it cannot be a value on its own, it is the core of all your values. It describes how you address your other values and how fast you recover from them once they have been violated, this is your integrity.

Both myself and the business have signed up for the Unashamedly Ethical pledge on their website. They offer ...

Are you living a Portfolio Life?

Posted by Bruce Wade on Monday, September 27, 2010, In : Entrepreneurship

The portfolio lifestyle as discussed on Mnet’s Carte Blanche on Sunday describes the lifestyle of those who derive an income from multiple sources whilst living their dream. They discussed how the previous secure corporate jobs were no longer able to offer the security once assumed by career veterans. Over 1 million jobs were lost in 2001 with now 1:6 adults out of work.

We at the Entrepreneur Incubator often engage with people who are looking to start a new career after being ejected out ...

Posted by Bruce Wade on Monday, September 20, 2010, In : Social Media
When drafting Copy for a web page, it is a constant struggle not to speak at your reader rather than speak with them. I have constantly had to rewrite my own and our members copy to try to get this right. This short video hits the nail on the head.

The CPA Part 3

Posted by Bruce Wade on Sunday, September 12, 2010, In : Entrepreneurship

As we get closer to the implementation date of the CPA, we are finding more and more people are still ignorant to its implications and impact on their businesses. In this post I want to focus on some of the marketing issues covered in the CPA, and how they will impact your existing marketing campaigns.

As far as marketing goes at the moment, the only restriction that I am aware of is the inability to use comparative marketing. The CPA outlines a few more restrictions for us in the act it is...

Why 4 and 40 are the best ages to be

Posted by Bruce Wade on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, In : Leadership

This week my daughter turned 4. She has now come of age as a child and begun to master her world. She has friends, play dates and a network to solve problems she faces each day. Her short term future is clear and apart from a small chest infection she is really happy with life. Her brain is in the process of making new discoveries and connections each day and according to research she has already learnt half the things she will learn in her entire life.

Me, well I am in the 40 plus age group...

It is a new season either Spring or Fall, depends on where you are. But a new season is a good time to do some change and change comes with planning, and planning comes with goals. I encourage you, know I challenge you, to take 30 minutes today and write out some of your most important goals for the next 90 days. Use the following 5 headings as a guide if you get stuck.

  •  Making my business more focused
  • Improving my cash flow
  • Expanding my brand footprint
  • Developing better relationships with my cus...

A guide to the consumer protection act (CPA) part 1

Posted by Bruce Wade on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, In : Entrepreneurship

The consumer protection act comes into effect in October this year. This act spells out all the rules of engagement in the supply chain of both retail products and services industries. It affects almost everything to do with the running of your small business. We will, over the next couple of weeks try to understand as much of that act as we can, but please understand that I am not a lawyer, nor do I understand the law as well as I could, and that this is just an act and only becomes law once...
