Ok, so you have a great idea. In the early
hours of the morning this idea has the potential of Google as it floats around
in your semi-sleep state. You wake up and write it all down with flow diagrams
and income streams all neatly defined. Now what?
Taking an idea from concept to reality is
what makes us Entrepreneurs. People who are able to think in solutions and not
problems. Living out of the box takes energy, courage and risk, but this is
what makes change happen. We are the ones who mov...
Every business development cycle goes through five
stages that need to be addressed, assigned and completed before moving on.
Failure to do so may result in a business that is built on an unstable
foundation. And we all know what happened to the house build on the sand and
not the rock.
The first question to ask about a business is: Is
this business idea Feasible? Feasibility needs to address both the business
concept and the business owner. For a business idea to become feasible it
should ...
One of the hardest part of starting any
business is selecting and registering the name. Not only is this a very
personal issue tied up with lots of emotion but you need to jump through a
series of hoops and holes to get it all done. Here are some basic guidelines
and processes.
Your business name should not:
Be named after you or any family member if
you ever want to sell it
Be limited to an area if you ever want to
expand to other areas
Be focused on one product or service if you
will expan...

What are the characteristics of a successful business owner?
This is the million dollar question that if we could know we could replicate
and sell. The truth is that we need to access each person within the frame work
of their specific business and the environment that they work in. A person may
prove successful in Cape Town but fail in Sydney, not because they have changed
but the rules of engagement differ in different locations. There are some
issues that need to be considered that are con...

Cameron Herald shares with us some of the issues with our education system and how to raise Entrepreneurs.
This is what we preach and yell from the roof tops at the Entrepreneur Incubator. Take some time to watch this, it could just find place for you in society.
Having recently redone our entire website
and currently assisting five of our members do the same, it has come to mind
that so many businesses just have no idea what it takes to develop a functional
marketing website. We seem to focus so much on design and looks that we fail to
even begin to develop the strategy that the site will be judged for in the
future. Here are some questions to ask about your site to do a snap assessment
on what you currently have on the web waves:

It was a few years ago when I started
seeing the influence that sport had on my mood and relationships that I made a conscious
decision to watch sport without allowing the result of something I have no
influence over have a negative impact on my emotions. This realization not only
moved me into the adult section of the EQ class but also allowed me the freedom
to watch and enjoy sport for the pleasure of entertainment and appreciation of
the skills on display. Sure it is always good to have y...

Who moved my Cheese? Change Management.
Facilitating Change. All good books and great advice on how to change people,
structures and companies. All this information and yet when real change happens
it seems to defy all logic and written theories.
Even as I sit here just a few hours away from the
start of the largest sporting event ever to be held in Africa, change has
reached a tipping point of no return. Africans have united in a way never seen
before. The constant noise of hooting, vuvuze...

EI Clients
Robert Bernatzeder, an EI Member, has
recently launched his latest web offering to the market in the form of an
online shop with a difference.
It all started when Robert tried to sell a
plot of land he had and found that agents and the process needed to and could
be improved on and so Direct Land Sale was born.
Direct Land Sale provides a platform for
people with land, to market their property on the site giving all the required
information, size, position, location and services together with...

As the eyes of the world turn towards South
Africa we have begun to see a huge change in attitude of people in our own
country as we welcome visitors from around the world.
We had millions of people out in the
streets celebrating the SA team on Wednesday and again on Friday we have called
all people to take to the streets to blow their vuvuzelas to welcome the world
to the start of the tournament. This Facebook event started just 7 days ago
have amassed a huge following and interest.
When faced with change or the beginning or change it is always advisable to start with an initial movement of huge proportion. This does a few things that go a long way to secure the success of the change project. A huge initial movement will give the team a boost of confidence and encouragement that improves the buy-in from all players. It also shows others that you are confident in the change and that you mean business. It also boils down to simple physics, it takes a huge boost of energy t... Continue reading ...
As you should have noticed. We have had a complete redesign of our website. This time changing from WordPress to Yola. No specific reason other than getting to learn a different platform and tool. I am still a huge fan of WordPress and what it offers, but in my line of work I cannot afford to align to just one platform and not explore other opportunities as I would never get to learn or be able to recommend the best tools required to you my clients.

We are experiencing an influx of technical
overload and all I need for a device I own to help me chill and make me coffee.
Now it can, well not make the actual coffee but at least find the place to
enjoy Cape Town’s best coffee.
Cape Reality has released their new iPhone
app Cape Town Safari that guides you to the Big 5 of whatever you want; Hotels,
restaurants, Coffee bars, Clubs, shopping. All at a click or a button or a swoosh
of a finger tip.

On my way to a function yesterday evening in Cape Town, I drove up over the side of Table Mountain to be met with one of the most impressive Sunsets I have seen for ages. I was unable to stop and take a pic and wished that I knew someone with a camera who could capture the beauty show that nature was putting on for us. Then this morning I was pleased to find out that one our own EI Members, Frenske Otzen, who is a professional photographer was on Blouberg Beach and clicking away capturing the... How many people do we know who have lost money because of certain get-rich-quick schemes? We have heard recently in the news how a number of very wealthy business men and women have lost millions in Ponzi schemes and we ask how can this happen? How do educated and experienced business men and women get caught up in scams, Pyramid and Ponzi schemes? One way that you can tell if you are potentially being targeted by scamsters is to check your ...
