Wow, what a year for small business. The world over was darkened with the financial recession and slow down of spending but we have seen some exceptional growth in some small businesses. Cape Town has risen to the task and been able to produce some brilliant development in the ICT sector with growth up by huge margins, not only in sales but employment as well. We survived the World Cup, Malema and the Vuvuzela.

Our members list looks a lot different now than it did 12 months ago. We have seen a fair amount of new companies start from scratch through the incubator who are now planning for the second phase of development to sustainable entities. It has been a huge honor to see our entrepreneurs seize the opportunities and find that gap in the market. We have also seen some redevelopment in some businesses where previous goals have been rewritten to accommodate change and a new focus. This has been a huge challenge for all of us. Unfortunately we have also seen a number of exciting ideas just not get off the ground due to various factors, but we trust next year will be better.
